Brian Lathan 1970-2009
It is with great personal sadness that I write this memoir to one of my most precious employees, Mr Brian Lathan who sadly passed away today, Monday 27th April 2009 at the tender age of 38.
Brian joined the company on 1st July 2005 where he soon made an impact on me with his enthusiasm and commitment to his role. He forged strong personal ties with his fellow warehousemen having a fabulous dry sense of humour and always a cheeky smile. His time with us was not always happy as he suffered personal challenges outside work in his life however you would not have seen Brian sad or downhearted, not at all. Brian was always fine, he often joked when I asked him if he was ok by saying 'I am ok, I am always ok'.
Brian had a loyalty possessed by very few in today's world, a man who felt that once given a role he obviously and openly carried out the task in hand, once again always with a smile.
How can I sum up Brian, well to those of us lucky enough to have known him knew he was very well liked and a pivotal part of a strong team in his place of work, he was totally respectful, someone I came to rely on and someone I could trust, Brian never let me down. Brian was a positive in my life and to those around him, part of our daily lives that I felt would always be there, he will be missed by me far more than I realized.
It is said that behind every great man is a great woman, in this case behind every great company is a team of great individuals, Brian was up there at the top of this list and believe me our customers will miss Brian although you probably never knew him.
I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Brian's family at this time of great loss, you are all in our thoughts.
Rest well Brian, thank you for your time you gave to me which I deeply regret has come to an end.
